My broken foot is going to take 6 to 9 weeks to heal. So I should probably utilize this time to draw and practice as much as possible instead of messing around with the same couple ideas over and over again. I hope you guys like this, I’m not sure if I do (completely) yet. I want to experiment more with coloring. I feel like I enjoy the outcome and look of flat colors more than rendered, painted images. Preferences change and I’m probably going to still practice painting.

Oh boy, I made an art. I also broke my foot.
I'm such a winner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzaDr1xwZe4
Went back to start working on older things, so updates soon? I've been sleeping a lot with the broken foot and all.

I only ever posted the finished version of the rider, so I’m reposting him with his creature. Sorry about the lack posts; I’ve been pretty reserved lately, playing video games, reading, and drawing exclusively in my sketchbook. Been very moody about my work… I have 3D illustration work I could share, but I sort of don’t want to? I think it’s very mediocre. Eh.

A couple months old. Work, sketches, ideas for a comic I plan on doing. Mostly experimenting between digitally inking, working with comics (it’s been a while), and coloring. I think I prefer my work with flat colors. It allows me to still be extremely sketchy while clear. I think my work is starting to take a better direction, but I don’t know. I wish I had more work to show you guys, but I’m not going to be posting a bunch of storyboards I did from my animation class haha.

Poster & Alien

Alright, so this is the finished rider to an alien creature (which I still want to go back to and touch up) I posted a while back. I’m pretty happy with this except for maybe the background. I had a really shitty day today, and week actually. Been thinking about all the stuff I have to do, not feeling well and sleeping too much. Just want to doodle dumb shit, but feel obligated to do otherwise. Anyway, tell me what you think, if you have any suggestions for improvements it’d be much appreciated. I still think I need lots of improvement on refinement.

So this is a poster of a doll that I’ve been working on in my 3D illustration class, so it’s also concept art, kinda. I’ve been working on my resume and cover letter to apply for internships in the Boston area. I’m naming the doll Cuidightheach, which is an old Celtic name meaning “Helpful” (If you’ve any idea on its correct pronunciation please send me a message because I’m pretty sure I’m pronouncing it wrong and can’t find anything on the web to correct myself). I need to download more fonts, fonts that have better readability and that I still enjoy. There are other things I want to touch up before posting, but I suck and have finals and end of the year critique wavering over my head like a big ol’ mean storm and I gotta take care of that.

On another note, I’ve watched the first to episodes of Korra and I’m all about that show. I might do some fanart of Korra and maybe even the Last Air bender since I love the fuck out of that show too. If I do there’s still a chance that I hide it away in my sketchbook like a jerk, only time will tell.

That update I promised is here.

Alright, here's a big dump of art...Have some bits from classes, wips/progress of sculpting Clinty. Conceptart for a scifi, racing beast. Preston Blair hands, feet and normal hand sketches.

Also, also, I've been working on making a list of female artists in the industry as a response to some sexist behavior and comments I've seen here and there (that I won't go into, because it's petty). It's only maybe 75 names long with a dozen links to relates articles and blogs, but I've been adding to it as I have time and come across/remember peoples' names. You can find it:
HERE.

And note...

Sorry I've been absent from the Internet lately... been working on things from school, been analyzing the weak points of my artwork and what needs improvement. I maxed out the number of credits/classes I can take this semester and have been non-stop busy. I've been posting to tumblr more often because their submission process is less tedious. Don't worry though, I have a week of Spring Vacation coming up and I'll probably sit down and submit a few pieces and maybe some sketches. Haven't had time to work on personal projects, as always. It's probably just better that I focus in on what I have to do already so I can put my all into these projects during the summer.

I also wanted to say add that I recently created a facebook fan page for myself and my artwork. If you enjoy myself you can find the page here and like it. It's new and I've yet to add more images (I'll likely do this during my break), but I'm also interested in what people might be interested in seeing on there... Just updates of when I add work to my blogs? More personal every day things? Let me know, I'd appreciate it.

Hooked

So I did this from my natural history and never finished it, but went back to finish it for the gallery of pieces that's getting put up for that class.
I just want to preface this by saying that the assignment was to make a surreal piece from some life studies we did in class. These aren't Geisha, but yĆ«jo or lady of pleasure. I would have put more rods (indicating that she was popular and had many customers) into the middle lady's hair, but make an artistic decision not to.
Been watching the second season of Sherlock Homles as I finish this and holy shit it's almost 1:30? I still have my animation homework to do. Here's to never sleeping and hoping I'm not late to school. Ughhhh.

Dr. Sketchy's Sketches I

These are some sketches I did this past summer at Dr. Sketchy's. I got some stuff I need to finish, but I think I'm gonna chill out knitting while watching some Ancient Aliens.
By the way, would anyone be interested if I posted some DIY clothing projects to this blog too other than my art stuff?
