Clay sculpting Gestures from the school year

Not exactly in order or anything. This is from the Principles of Sculpting I class that I took during the Fall semester. They range from 15-30 minute gestures. One I think is from two days. I didn't actually take pictures of all the gestures we did during class, just a few (I've posted them all). For those that I did take pictures of I took several going around the figure. For a while we were also doing a sculpture of a head, but mine broke so I have no pictures. I plan on taking a sculpture illustration class this upcoming year in the Spring too and maybe getting myself to do some actual sculpture in my own time (I want to do everything ever, apparently). Protip: The more competently done ones are mid-way down the page through to the bottom.

Sculpture is great though. you get a better grasp of anatomy, distribution, weight, poses, etc. It's a wonderful experience.

Sick, but here I am anyway...

Oh, boy oh boy oh boy. A beautiful new semester, with new classes, new things to be learned and new things to create... unless of course you get sick, which I did. Now, despite this I attended all my classes, went to work, and you know, fell behind in my homework because when I was home I was whining at my computer eating soup before sleeping for about 12 to 14 hours before doing it all over again. So here I am, playing catch up at the beginning a semester and still sick. Rotten luck, I know.

But hey, I have sketches and the like to share. For a class of mine I did a short review of one of my favorite artists, Nomi Chi over at the Illustration Department's blog at my school. Check it out! Oh, and I also have a new blog banner. More sketches and work hopefully to come. At the moment I'm really trying to figure out where I'm going as an illustrator and artist, for the moment I seem to be straddling a fence between what I like doing, what I want to do and the like. In any case, I have my tablet now, so as soon as I've caught up with my school work I'm going to dive into digital painting. In the mean time I'll try to be diligent with scanning and posting sketches, WIPs, school work--you know, whatever I've been working on. For now, here are some semi-recent place holders:
